Mark op Booking.com september 2024 The place is absolutely delightful. Immaculately kept, and as beautiful as the pics. The room we stayed in (1st floor) has amazing views. Whilst there is air-con available, it wasn’t needed, as the temperature dropped in the evenings, so we slept with the mosquito nets across the open windows, listening to nothing but the sounds of wildlife – bliss! Note, whilst not explicitly stated on the property listing, the place is VERY close to an “ecopista” (cycle path on former railtracks) – along which you can cycle to Viseu (and further) in one direction. This is a perfect property for exploring it from!!! I’ve included some pics. The swimming pool is delightful – it’s a complete sun-trap with glorious views. The lack of light polution gives stunning night-time vistas too! The nearby town of Tondela has some interesting looking restaurants (including one with a Michelin bib gourmande), although I must admit, we ate at the property most evenings, as the view was just beautiful! If you’re at all into cars, a visit to the museum at Caramulo is absolutely worth it – some incredible vehicles in a private collection there. Caroline, the host, is a lovely, friendly person, who wants you to enjoy your stay. She left us a a kind gift of a bottle of wine and some icecreams on our arrival! (We were fortunate enough to have the entire place to ourselves when we were there, which was utterly divine!)
This section asks “what didn’t you like?” This is definitely not that (as we had THE BEST stay!) – but just something to be aware of. There are 4 rental properties on site here – a 3-bed house, a 2-bed house, and two separate rooms. The 2-bed house and the two rooms all share a kitchen, which wasn’t obvious to us until after we booked. There are no drinks making facilities in the rooms, so you need to go to the kitchen to make yourself a morning cup of tea (okay okay, I’m a Brit!)
